Universal Studios Hollywood is both a movie studio and a theme park in the San Fernando Valley in the Los Angeles area of California. It is one of the oldest and most well-known studios that is still in use today. This place is known as "The Entertainment Capital Of LA". It was initially created to provide tours of the actual Universal studios and sets used and was the first theme park to launch the other parks around the world.

The resort features 2 hotels (Universal Hilton & Towers and Sheraton Universal Hotel) as well as a commercial area, Universal CityWalk, with its shops, cinema, and restaurants. In 2017, the park welcomed more than 9 million visitors, positioning it in 15th place worldwide and 9th in North American parks.

As early as 1915, studio tours were possible but stopped in 1930 when sound arrived in films to avoid hearing visitors during sound recording. It was in 1964 that the tours were able to resume with the backlot tour that we know today.

In 1968, a regulation no longer allowed tours of the sets during filming, and Universal began to create experiences during the tram tour, which were an immediate success and launched the park on the path to becoming a theme park.

In 1991, the first Dark Ride was launched with ET Adventure, followed by Back to the Future in 1993 and Jurassic Park in 1996.

The park is currently accelerating its development with many projects recently completed or upcoming. With the arrival of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and soon a Nintendo World, the number of attractions is growing rapidly, making this park a destination of choice.

The park is divided into 2 parts: the Upper Lot and the Lower Lot. The Upper Lot is where the more family-friendly attractions are located, as well as the Tram Tour and Harry Potter. The Lower Lot is the smaller of the two and is where Jurassic World, The Mummy, and Transformers, for example, are located.
